Please follow these measuring instructions to ensure that the glass you order will fit correctly.

Please measure to the nearest 1/16 of an inch the width and the height of the opening where the glass will be installed.

Then deduct 1/8 of an inch from each of these measurements. For example, if the opening measures 12" x 18", you would order a glass insert that is 11-7/8" x 17-7/8".

Note: We will cut your glass to the size you order with a tolerance of +/- 1/16 of an inch.

Safety Glass Requirements

Certain applications (e.g., entry doors and sidelites) generally require the use of tempered or laminated safety glass. The requirements are complex and vary by municipality. Your local building inspector is the ultimate authority on whether safety glass is required for your specific application. You accept all responsibility for determining whether you must have safety glass when you place your order with us.

We heat-treat glass so that if it breaks, it breaks into many small less harmful pieces, instead of more harmful large shards. Not all glass patterns can be tempered. For example, glass with any trapped air (e.g., Seedy) cannot be tempered. A certification ASTM SGCC logo will be placed on the tempered glass unless no logo is requested.

The glass you order is sandwiched together with plain glass. If it breaks, the pieces stay together, making it less harmful. This process makes the glass thicker and heavier.
